The PCIe slot can host one of these two accessories:
- Synology M2D17: A Dual M.2 SATA SSD adapter card that boosts the DS1618+'s performance with SSD cache. Or
- Synology E10G17-F2 (the E10G17-F1 works too) 10GbE NIC: This is a next-gen network card that delivers up to 10,000Mbps throughput speed and enables the DS1618+'s network speed to over 1,550MB/s in reading and 580MB/s in writing in a RAID 5.

The Synology DS1618+'s system memory (RAM) bay is on its underside. There are two RAM slots one only preoccupied with a 4GB stick. The server can have the max amount of up to 32GB.
