That’s total nonsense, Richard, even more than FSD. The entire Earth is giant magnet, which is why we survive solar flares, etc. and the compass works. You might want to read this post.

do myself own know car, but wonder if you ever measured the magnetic fields (nT) / ElectroMagnetic Fields (V/m) on your Tesla.
Some people tell those can be really high, to the point that it is actually dangerous driving around in a Tesla (harm to reproductive system, etc. – practically one is getting “fried” inside a Faraday cage). Would wonder to hear your take on that.

It’ll never be possible for FSD to be full self-driving. Period. So the naming itself is a lie. The cost is real. So yes, it’s a scam. More here.

Like it if you want. Stay safe, though.

How long have you tried it for and in what version of FSD you were in? What driving conditions and maps you out FSD through to claim FSD is a scam. I have been a FSD beta tester since the very beginning and have saw it go from useless to useful.
Yes, its not perfect and has kinks to work out but this is the nature of software development. This tech will take time to improve and there is strong evidence of this improving over time in youtube. Love to chat more.

You can subscribe and try, William, but FSD will likely disappoint you. The car just doesn’t have enough sensors for what it promises.

It is my understanding FSD works more on local streets and Autopilot is for dividend highways. I am looking at the FSD subscription as an alternative to installing hand controls on a car as I suffer from mild neuropathy, which reduces the feeling in my feet. Assuming both hands on the wheel and being an attentive driver, would FSD allow me to be more independent? I have recently ordered a 2023 Long Range Model Y with the standard Autopilot and am looking to subscribe to FSD for $199 a month, rather than the $15k upgrade.

Yeap. Like I said, FSD is a scam. Wouldn’t be surprised of class action lawsuits on this front at some point.

Tesla upgrades are a gimmick, just like donating $1000 to Apple for the 4TB storage upgrade on a MacBook Pro is a gimmick. I love my Model 3, base and it has everything I need in a car including an amazing stereo that rivals even the most expensive systems I’ve listened to in BMW or the upgraded system in the Polestar. The “autopilot” that comes standard on Tesla is perfect, it makes the long road trips much easier, and stop in go traffic in LA goes by in a flash with autopilot on and your favorite album playing on the amazing sound system. No need to spend $12,000+ for the full self driving that will never materialize itself, and the DOT will NEVER approve it for use without the driver having their eyes forward and hands on the wheel.

Sorry about the typo, Jonathan. I hate it when people butcher my name, too.

Since you seem so serious:

“Autopilot” is misleading at best and completely wrong at worst.

For one, per what you presented, it does not apply to cars — we don’t call a driver a “captain.” For two, it doesn’t work the way it does on an airplane, where it can fly the aircraft for hours unattended. In fact, if you expect to work that way — and we don’t know what to expect since again it’s not applicable — you could kill yourself. Some did. For three, this post is mainly about the Full-Self-Driving feature, which has been a lie, as I mentioned in the post.

There’s nothing appropriate or inappropriate about naming anything. You can name your dog “cat,” and that’s fine — Elon named his youngest child, per his words, after “a cat running across the keyboard,” and no one can have any say about that.

The point is you can name anything whatever you want. But when naming something with the intention to fool others, then it’s a lie. Tesla has been bragging about its cars “driving by themselves” from the get-go. And “Autopilot” and “FSD” are part of that largely false narrative.

Jonathan. Please…

I know you’re joking (at least I hope) but the word “Autopilot” is defined as I presented. It does not mean human oversight is not required. People misunderstand what an “Autopilot” is.

Tesla named their system appropriately.
