When you install the Blogmesh WordPress plugin, you’ll be able to subscribe to other blogs using the ‘Friends”-section in wp-admin. While this works, there’s an easier way. The Blogmesh browser extension is a simple add-on that adds a “follow” button. Here’s how to set it up.
Make sure you’ve set up a Blogmesh site
Currently, this means you’ll need a (self-hosted) WordPress blog, with the Blogmesh plugin installed.
- Install the Chrome extension
Log into your site’s wp-admin, and go to Settings -> Blogmesh
Here, you’ll see the API URL and secret. You’ll need to copy these two values to the browser extension’s options page.
Right-click the little green Blogmesh icon in your browser’s toolbar, and select “Options”
Copy over the two values, and click “Save”
You’ve now set up everything the extension needs to securely communicate with your Blogmesh instance.
Your Blogmesh button is ready for use.
You can now browser to any Blogmesh site, and use the “follow button” to add that blog as a friend. Click the little green icon to see the popup.
That’s it. Please let me know if you have trouble setting this up.
